How to become an anatomic pathologist?

Anatomic pathologies are physicians and must follow a similar educational path as other medical doctors. Earn a bachelor’s degree in one of the sciences, then complete medical school. Obtain your medical license by passing the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Acquire a pathology residency to gain experience in the field while working under a practicing pathologist. These residency programs typically last three to four years. After your residency is finished, become certified by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology. When you have completed all your qualifications, you are ready to seek anatomic pathologist positions at hospitals, laboratories, and other medical facilities.
