How to become a traveling engineer?

Career: Traveling Engineer

The primary qualifications for this position are a degree in a relevant field and several years of experience working on the same type of system. Employers strongly prefer applicants who have at least five years of experience. Fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a traveling engineer may require transporting equipment, an irregular sleep schedule, and the ability to perform complex on-site testing of systems. Traveling engineers need excellent problem-solving skills, communication skills, and the ability to respond to customers quickly. At some companies, you may be asked to develop processes for other employees to follow, and any history doing so is particularly helpful for getting noticed.
