How to become a tool designer?

The educational qualifications to become a tool designer include a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate. It’s strongly recommended to further pursue a two-year program at a trade or technical school to complete additional coursework in drafting, engineering, and blueprint reading. Proficiency in CAD/CAM technology is essential along with familiarity operating computerized equipment. You may receive on-the-job training or find an apprenticeship to hone your skills and gain experience. You can also earn voluntary certifications through the Skills Certification System or programs at some community colleges. This position requires you to have manual dexterity, technical skills, and computer knowledge. Physical stamina is also an asset.
