How to become a structured cabling technician?

Career: Structured Cabling Technician

To become a structured cabling technician, you typically need a high school diploma or GED certificate and relevant experience. A degree or certificate from a vocational or technical school is preferred but not necessary as much of the training occurs on the job. Working under a senior technician teaches you related terminology, industry standards, and legal regulations, along with an understanding of telecommunications, security, data, and wireless systems. Additional qualifications include strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and a valid driver’s license to travel to site locations. You also need excellent critical thinking and customer service skills.
