How to become a specimen collector?

For an entry-level job as a specimen collector, the only requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent and basic data entry skills. A valid driver’s license may also be required. For more advanced positions, additional qualifications or training may be necessary. Specimen processor positions within certain government agencies may also require certification classes specific to that agency. For example, positions that include collecting blood samples may require candidates to be certified phlebotomists. More specialized specimen collectors that prepare tissue samples for laboratory analysis may need to have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
