While there are no formal educational qualifications needed to become a software architect, many in the field hold a bachelor’s degree in a computer science field. While in school, you should hone your programming skills, especially those regarding the languages Ruby, Go, and C#. After obtaining a formal education, you should gain experience by working with various IT teams. When you apply for your first software architect position, you must be able to demonstrate your technical skills, relevant experience, and your success working as part of a team.
