Additionally, you need professional experience in the shipping industry. While shipping methods may change from industry to industry, the management skills required remain the same. You need strong communication skills, as you must work in collaboration with transportation carriers and other shipping partners. While larger companies may have a customer service department, a position in a smaller warehouse requires customer service skills as well. Your employer should provide training on their particular organizational methods and computer software.
