To pursue a career as a security analyst, you need a bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a similar field, along with several years of experience in the industry. Many security analysts start out as incident responders or security developers before moving into security analyst jobs. You need technical skills in areas like penetration and vulnerability testing, IDS/IPS, anti-virus, anti-malware, DLP, TCP/IP, networking, routing, switching, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention protocols, SaaS, programming languages like C, C++, PHP, and Java, and cloud computing.
