The qualifications you need to become a SCADA engineer include a degree, computer skills, and experience. You can pursue a degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, or computer engineering. In this field, some entry-level positions are open to applicants with an associate degree in electrical engineering technology or a related subject. All SCADA positions also require a fundamental knowledge of computer security and programming. Your job can include configuring servers and databases and use programming languages such as SQL and C++. Some industrial control system vendors, such as Indosoft and Wonderware, offer certification for engineers.
