To become a reporting analyst, you need at least a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information management, or a related field. Many employers prefer candidates with a master’s degree, and although it is not strictly necessary, it will set you ahead of other candidates. You must have excellent analytical and research skills as well as experience with popular big data tools and computer software, including SQL, Oracle, and Microsoft Excel. Additional qualifications include experience in information management, professional certification, and a thorough understanding of effective business systems and practices. In addition to private companies, government agencies and nonprofit organizations often hire reporting analysts.
