How to become a purchaser?

A purchaser needs basic communications and marketing experience. Many small companies hire purchasers with just a high school degree and provide on-the-job training. Larger companies prefer purchasers with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, or an industry-related field. A variety of certifications are available from organizations such as the American Purchasing Society. Additional qualifications include analytical and research skills.
