From there, you can find entry-level positions within pumping facilities, on oil derricks, or in positions with duties and responsibilities otherwise pertaining to the physical infrastructure necessary to the extraction of petroleum. Once you have a proven work history in the field, you can transition into a role as a pump operator. You must have excellent problem-solving and mechanical skills.
