The qualifications to become a processing engineer include at least a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering from a college or university with ABET accreditation. Some employers require you to have a master’s degree in the field, and many companies require you to have three or more years of experience in process engineering. Excellent math and analytical skills are necessary to fulfill your responsibilities and duties in this role, which include developing chemical processes to improve manufacturing methodologies, implementing safety practices, and testing and monitoring equipment and materials.
