How to become a park guide?

Career: Park Guide

To become a park guide, you need to have a range of skills and qualifications, beginning with a high school diploma or a G.E.D. certificate. Some employers may prefer that you have an associate or bachelor’s degree. You can gain experience by doing seasonal work at national parks or forests where you perform trail maintenance and other duties and learn about the parks. Or, you may gain some advanced training or knowledge in a specific subject area relevant to the park or monument. Developing interpersonal and communication skills is essential. Most park guides work for federal or state parks agencies, so you typically need to pass a background check and may need to obtain security clearance.
