Career: Motorcycle Safety Instructor

The qualifications you need to become a motorcycle safety instructor include riding and teaching skills. You need at least a high school diploma or GED certificate for most jobs. Additionally, all motorcycle safety instructors need a motorcycle license from the state in which they teach. Employers prefer applicants who have several years of riding experience and are familiar with different types of motorcycles. You can obtain safety teacher training from organizations such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Completion of an MSF training program is a requirement for some positions. Some states require additional certifications from the Department of Transportation as well.
