How to become a medical driver?

Career: Medical Driver

Medical Drivers need to be excellent drivers. One of the most important qualifications for this role is a clean driving record; some states may allow for only one moving violation on your recent driving record. Besides a clean license, states often require Medical Drivers to pass a background check and a drug screening. For Medical Transport Drivers, you’ll be responsible for elderly clients and physically challenged patients. Possessing up-to-date CPR and First Aid certification is essential. Some states require Medical Transport Drivers to hold a chauffeur’s license or a specialized medical vehicle. Medical Drivers who do not transport clients, but rather pharmaceuticals, supplies, and even body organs, should have some prior delivery experience and keen knowledge of the surrounding area to provide safe, efficient dispatch services. All Medical Drivers should have basic reading and writing competencies and the ability to keep accurate records.
