How to become a master carpenter?

Career: Master Carpenter

Although there are no official certification programs for a master carpenter, you need strong mechanical ability and years of work experience to become a highly seasoned carpenter. To enter the profession, you must typically earn your high school diploma or GED certificate and find work as a carpenter’s helper before you can begin a carpenter apprenticeship. A carpenter apprenticeship lasts up to four years and provides instruction and hands-on training in subjects like blueprint reading, structural framing, and building code requirements. You must then pass an exam to certify you as a journeyman carpenter and allow you to work independently.
