How to become a librarian?

Career: Librarian

To become a librarian, a college education is required. Libraries also employ aides and assistants, which are positions that do not necessarily require a college education and can be good starting jobs for future librarians. After satisfying the requirements for a bachelor’s degree, obtaining a master’s degree in library science or information studies accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) is recommended. Most libraries will want to hire librarians who have advanced degrees. Some states require additional certification or licensure to work in school or public libraries.
