The qualifications that you need to become a fund controller are similar whether you work as a private equity fund controller, a hedge fund controller, or an investment fund controller. You need at least a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance. Employers may expect you to be a certified public accountant (CPA) and to have developed your skills through previous experience as a professional accountant. You can choose to work towards a master’s degree in accounting as well. Since you coordinate with investment bankers, a knowledge of investing is also vital.
