The qualifications needed to become a drywall installer are a high school diploma and construction experience. You can complete a program at a vocational school or take on an apprenticeship to learn the skills and tools of the trade. Most construction apprenticeships last between three to four years and include a classroom component as well as hands-on training. As you gain experience working as a drywall installer, you may be able to advance to a supervisor position, or earn your state license to become a contractor.
