How to become a drain cleaner?

Career: Drain Cleaner

To become a drain cleaner, you need previous work experience with drain cleaning, which you can gain through on-the-job training with a plumber or maintenance company. There are some licenses you can earn based on the position you are interested in, such as the Unrestricted Drain Cleaners License; however, most states do not require a plumbing license to clean drains. More advanced positions may require one to three years of experience, such as performing commercial plumbing services. You may also be required to pass a chiropractic exam to ensure you are physically fit to complete necessary tasks, along with a drug test and background check. Additional qualifications include strong mechanical ability and customer service skills.
