How to become a crematory operator?

Career: Crematory Operator

To become a crematory operator, you will need a degree in mortuary science, or a degree relating to funeral services. While completing your education, you can work at a funeral home that offers apprenticeships or internships. Training will include operating machinery, safety, ethics, and learning how to work with families who are experiencing grief after a death. You will also need certification from an official cremation association. Some states require additional state licenses before you can start your career. If you plan on continuing in funeral service beyond crematory operation, you will need to become licensed by the state as well.
