How to become a correctional chaplain?

The qualifications needed to start a career as a correctional chaplain depend on your religious affiliation. A chaplain may need to join a religious order, graduate from a seminary, or possess a college degree in theology, divinity studies, or a related field. Some religions and religious denominations require on-the-job training as an assistant minister or pastor before they officially recognize someone as a spiritual leader. Because of the service that they provide, religious counselors need counseling and communication skills.
