Education and training are the primary qualifications you need to become a construction assistant. You need at least an associate degree in construction management or technology. Some employers, however, prefer a bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering. Earning your master’s degree in construction management is highly beneficial if you want to advance your career. As an assistant, part of your job is training under the guidance of a manager as you hone your business and leadership skills. Analytical, decision making, and customer service skills are vital to this role. While you do not need certification, earning your CMM makes you more employable.
