How to become a commissioning engineer?

Most employers require a commissioning engineer, or commission engineer, to have a bachelor's degree program in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering. This job is a higher level position, so you need to spend time in an entry-level position to gain the experience and skills you need. The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) offers an optional Fundamentals of Engineering exam, which is also the first step to earning a professional engineering (PE) license. Requirements for this licensure vary by state, but some employers may require you to have a PE for a commission engineering job.
