A career as a combat engineer in the army begins with passing the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, which determines if you have the basic skills needed for the job. Qualifications also include a 14-week program of One Station Unit Training. During this time, you receive job training and get experience with demolitions, hazards of explosives, bridge building, obstacle creation, and the operation of heavy equipment.
