How to become a collector?

There are few formal requirements needed for a career as a collector. Many companies have extensive collectors training which focuses on parts of the law that relate to consumer protection and debt. Although you primarily work outside of the outstanding debt field, these laws apply to most collections whether payment is overdue or not. To start your career, you should identify the companies in your area that need collectors and whether their collections offices are in your city. Qualifications usually include experience in customer service or sales, as well as advanced computer skills and fast typing speeds. You can work on any of these aspects on your own, and most companies only require a high school diploma or GED certificate.
