How to become a chess instructor?

To become a successful chess instructor or chess coach, you should have a ranking in tournament chess. These rankings are obtained by performing in tournaments affiliated with The United States Chess Federation (USCF) or the World Chess Federation (FIDE). To be hired as an instructor at a school, you may also be required to have a teaching certificate, but many work as independent contractors. Instructors can work with students of varying ages and ability levels, and responsibilities may include accompanying students to regional or national chess tournaments.
