To become a chassis engineer, you must have a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. Most employers require additional qualifications, including several years of experience with vehicle testing and evaluation and component design and development. You must know the fundamentals of chassis design and be familiar with service manuals and shop equipment. You also need to have experience as a project manager. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well.
