How to become a certified first assistant?

Those interested in a career as a certified first assistant (CFA) need an education in surgical technology一at least a CSFA certification from an accredited surgical first assistant training program. Most first assistants also earn an associate degree. You must gain experience in the health field, usually as a licensed surgical technologist, before advancing to the first assistant position. You need excellent communication and technical skills. The job requires working closely under the supervision of surgeons, during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative procedures.
