How to become a carpentry subcontractor?

Carpentry subcontractors must be proficient in carpentry techniques and know how to build and shape a variety of wooden structures. There are no formal education requirements for this position, though most have at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Some carpentry subcontractors start their careers as an apprentice to an experienced carpenter to learn the proper techniques for the job, how to handle carpentry tools, and safety practices involved with working on a building site. Several states require carpenters to obtain a contractor's license before they begin working as an apprentice or on their own as a subcontractor. License qualifications in most states include acquiring insurance and passing an exam.
