How to become a CNM?

The qualifications needed for a career as a certified nurse midwife (CNM) include a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Following graduation, you must pass the NCLEX-RN exam to become a registered nurse. While it is not required, many aspiring CNMs gain experience as RNs to hone their clinical skills. To advance in this career, you need to obtain a master’s degree. Be sure to choose a school approved by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education. This graduate program leaves you with both an MSN and a certification as a nurse midwife.
