The qualifications needed for a career as a CAD engineer begin with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, CAD design, or a related field. Some employers may offer an apprenticeship program where you can learn the skills needed to be a CAD engineer without having completed a four-year degree. Regardless, you should still pursue some form of post-secondary education in computers, computer-aided design, or basic engineering concepts.
