How to become a BHT?

To become a BHT, you typically need at least a high school diploma or GED certificate and experience working with patients in a psychiatric unit or residential setting. However, employers may prefer applicants who have a bachelor's degree, certification as a psychiatric technician, or training in nonviolent crisis intervention. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal, observational, and critical thinking skills, as well as an understanding of facility policies and procedures and ethical guidelines.
