How to be a good fire chief?

A good fire chief has a science-based education, firefighting experience, and management skills. To succeed in this career field, you should become very familiar with your department and community, and work hard to continue your education. A good chief strives to meet safety standards and follow procedures at all times. Additionally, they are a team player—helping fellow firefighters and other first responders whenever possible. They are a positive influence on the department.
