A bus monitor works a flexible schedule. This career often involves different hours on a weekly basis, with split shifts as well as night, weekend, and holiday work. Those on a split shift generally work part-time, working a few hours in the morning when the bus picks children up and a few hours in the afternoon when the bus drops children off. Those that work full-time usually perform maintenance or other administrative tasks during the middle of the day.
