To become an inventory auditor, earn a high school diploma or equivalent. Become proficient with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel. Obtain an entry-level position in the industry in which you wish to work to learn how the company tracks inventory when shipments come in or when items are sent out. Many employers provide on-the-job training for inventory auditors, but prefer candidates with some industry experience.
