How do you become a farm operations manager?

Career: Farm Operations Manager

A farm operations manager’s qualifications depend largely on the type of facility they work at. A farm manager who works on cattle ranches, for example, needs significant work experience with cattle operations and land management practices, knowledge of feed and animal health, and other practices associated with ranching. A manager at a greenhouse, on the other hand, needs to have an excellent knowledge of different crops, such as fruits or vegetables, soil conditions, when to plant seeds and fertilize, and seasonal harvest schedules. Some learn everything through work experience, while others may have studied agricultural or land management, agronomy, or agricultural economics to earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
