What is a GI Lab?

A GI Lab, or Gastrointestinal Laboratory, is a specialized medical facility where procedures and tests related to the digestive system are performed. This includes diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and upper endoscopies to examine the esophagus, stomach, intestines, and other parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Patients are often referred to the GI Lab for evaluation of symptoms like abdominal pain, bleeding, or abnormal test results.
