What is a floating RBT?

A Floating Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a certified paraprofessional who provides applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to clients, typically children with autism or other developmental disorders. Unlike standard RBTs who may be assigned to a single client or location, Floating RBTs work across multiple locations or with different clients as needed, filling in gaps or providing coverage where required. They play a key role in maintaining continuity of care and flexibility within ABA therapy programs. Floating RBTs still work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and follow detailed behavior intervention plans. This role requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to quickly build rapport with new clients.
