What is a Float Pool RN?

A Float Pool RN is a registered nurse who is assigned to work in different units or departments within a hospital or healthcare facility, based on staffing needs. Instead of being assigned to one specific area, float pool nurses move between various floors, such as medical-surgical, ICU, or emergency, often filling in for staff shortages or high patient volumes.
