What is an entry level PhD student?

Entry Level PhD Students are individuals who have recently begun their doctoral studies, often after completing an undergraduate or master's degree. They typically spend their first year or two taking advanced coursework, exploring research topics, and identifying a dissertation advisor. Their responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, developing research proposals, and sometimes assisting with teaching or lab work. The goal at this stage is to build foundational knowledge and skills for independent research.
