What is an EMTA?

EMTs, or Emergency Medical Technicians, are healthcare professionals trained to provide emergency medical care and basic life support to patients outside of hospitals. They respond to 911 calls, assess patients’ conditions, perform CPR, administer oxygen, control bleeding, and transport patients safely to medical facilities. EMTs are often the first healthcare providers on the scene during emergencies and work closely with paramedics, firefighters, and police to ensure rapid and effective care. Their training equips them to handle a variety of urgent situations, from heart attacks and injuries to accidents and natural disasters.
