Their responsibilities often include assessing the severity of a crisis, offering counseling, developing safety plans, and coordinating with other healthcare or law enforcement professionals to ensure patient safety. EMHCs work in settings such as hospitals, crisis hotlines, community mental health centers, and sometimes in mobile crisis units. Their goal is to stabilize clients in crisis and connect them to ongoing mental health resources.
