What is ecosystem science?

Ecosystem science is the study of interactions among organisms and their environment as a system. It focuses on understanding how living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic) components of ecosystems, such as plants, animals, microbes, soil, water, and climate, interact to shape the structure and function of natural systems.
