What is a DCFS case worker?

DCFS case workers are professionals employed by the Department of Children and Family Services. Their primary role is to investigate reports of child abuse, neglect, and dependency, and to ensure the safety and well-being of children. They work closely with families, law enforcement, and the court system to develop safety plans, provide support services, and, when necessary, arrange for foster care or other placements. DCFS case workers also monitor the progress of families to help reunify children with their parents when it is safe to do so.
