What is a Class A owner operator?

Class A Owner Operators are independent truck drivers who own or lease their own semi-trucks and have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). They contract with freight companies or operate independently to transport goods across local, regional, or national routes. Unlike company drivers, Owner Operators are responsible for maintaining their vehicles, managing business expenses, and securing clients or loads. This role offers greater flexibility and earning potential, but also comes with increased responsibility for operating costs and business management.
