What is a base exchange?

A Base Exchange, often abbreviated as BX, is a retail store operated by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) on military installations. The BX provides goods and services to military personnel, retirees, and their families at competitive prices, often tax-free. It offers a wide variety of products, including clothing, electronics, household items, and groceries.
