What is an LCSW?

An LCSW, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is a type of mental health professional who has completed a master's degree in social work, obtained clinical training, and passed a licensing exam. LCSWs are qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health disorders, as well as provide counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, families, and groups. They often work in settings such as hospitals, schools, private practices, and community agencies, helping clients manage emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. LCSWs also advocate for clients and connect them with resources and support services.
