ASWs, or Associate Social Workers, are individuals who have earned a master's degree in social work and are registered with a state board (such as the California Board of Behavioral Sciences) to gain supervised experience required for licensure. They typically work under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and provide various social services, including counseling, case management, and support to individuals, families, or groups. ASWs are in the process of accruing the necessary hours and competencies to become fully licensed clinical social workers.
